The samples for Figures 5 a and 5b were prepared by incubation of the apoprotein with 2 equivalents of the guest, followed by centrifugation and dialysis to remove unreacted guest. The samples contained non-reconstituted apoprotein in 37 and 93%, respectively, as judged from the isolated yields of 5 from the assemblies.
