    • Haze consists of smoke, condensation and particulate matter created by burning organic matter and fossil fuels which, among other effects, reduce visibility. Haze from forest fires has a huge concentration of particulates. Larger particulates fall rapidly from the atmosphere but small particulates can be spread by winds, exacerbate other pollutants and are therefore of primary concern to health. Once they penetrate the respiratory system, they remain there for a long period.
