A descriptive study of seven patients undergoing pelvic reconstruction after anterior exenteralion. There was a high rate of urinary fistulae, but it potentially offers an alternative to stomas.

Int J Colored Dis 1997; 12:37-41. This study describes a new method of urinary diversion that involves anastomosing the ureters into a redundant segment of the sigmoid colon. The study concludes that this is a safe method that has been carried out in 13 patients, only one of whom has developed a urinary fistula.
