Hydrosalpinges adversely affect markers of endometrial receptivity
-
Meyer WR, Castelbaum AJ, Harris JE, Levy M, Somkuti S, Sagaskin AW, et al. Hydrosalpinges adversely affect markers of endometrial receptivity. Hum Reprod 1997; 12:1393-1398. This is an important study because it provides evidence that the presence of hydrosalpinges adversely affects endometrial function. Specifically, molecular markers of uterine receptivity are reduced in these patients.

Hydrosalpinx fluid enhances human trophoblast viability and function in vitro: Implications for embryonic implantation in assisted reproduction
-
Sawin SW, Loret de Mola JR, Monzon-Bordonaba F, Wang CL, Feinberg RF. Hydrosalpinx fluid enhances human trophoblast viability and function in vitro: implications for embryonic implantation in assisted reproduction. Fertil Steril 1997; 68:65-71. This is the only study to address the possibility of embryotoxicity of hydrosalpinx fluid on human trophoblasts. In contrast to studies with mouse embryos, human trophoblasts survive and function better in the presence of hydrosalpinx fluid.
