This recent study showed lower pregnancy rates in patients with hydrosalpinges compared with other forms of tubal disease, and showed that pregnancy rates improved with surgical correction of hydrosalpinges.

This is the only study to address the possibility of embryotoxicity of hydrosalpinx fluid on human trophoblasts. In contrast to studies with mouse embryos, human trophoblasts survive and function better in the presence of hydrosalpinx fluid.
