    • The Queen Alia Fund (QAF) and the Noor al-Hussein Foundation (NHF) are two members of what has been termed 'RANGOs' (Royal NGOs) that have special status in Jordanian law giving them a tax-free status and designation as a non-governmental organization while maintaining close ties to the government. The chairpersons and members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by royal decree and they are integrated into governmental development planning by carrying out the government's development projects. (Interview with Awnial-Basheer, Director of the Queen Alia Fund, 24 June 1996; see also text of law 37 year 1985.)
