    • Dihydrovasopressin was prepared by solid phase peptide synthesis on a Applied Biosystems 430A synthetiser, using the Boc strategy. mBHA resin (0.75 mmol/g) was from ABI. Amino acids protecting groups were as follows: tosyl (Arg), 4-MeBzl (Cys), Brz (Tyr). Cleavage of the peptide from the resin and simultaneous deprotection of the side chains was achieved by treatment with anhydrous HF (10 ml/g of resin bound peptide) containing p-cresol (0.1 g/ml of HF) for 60 min at 0°C. The crude peptide was lyophilised and purified by HPLC in conditions described in reference 10.
