Characterization of the yeast transcriptome

of outstanding interest. This is the first paper in which expression levels for all genes in the yeast genome are analyzed and is a seminal report on whole genome functional analysis. The authors demonstrate that transcripts can be detected for 75% of the genes in the yeast genome using the SAGE method. In addition, they detect expression for 160 small non-annotated ORFs.
