    • The low percentage of F atoms in the blank means that the residual carbonyl functions of the PEEK-OH (about 15%) are practically unreactive. Indeed, the PEEK carbonyl functions are part of benzophenone motifs. It is well established in organic synthesis that benzophenone is poorly ractive towards nucleophiles (steric effect; stabilization by resonance), and that the formation of Schiff's bases requires acid catalysis.
