In earlier publications by this group discussing either the current or earlier low-energy gas-ΔE/gas-ΔE/Si-E telescopes, the designations "filter" and "trigger" were used for the first and second gas-ΔE detectors, respectively. Originally, the second gas detector was used in combination with the E detector as a hardware trigger, as described in the text. The signal from the first-gas detector was used during off-line analysis as an additional filter. Subsequently, the functions of the two detectors were reversed, but the names were kept the same. To remedy this potentially confusing situation, we will hereafter refer to the detectors as "first" and "second". The term "trigger" will be used only to designate which detector is used for hardware gating.
