Similar behavior is found for poly(oxyethylene) (POE). In the case of POE, the phase separation can be described in terms of both entropy and enthalpy, i.e., the loss of translational freedom of nearby hydrogen-bonded water in an aqueous polymer solution due to strong solute-solvent interactions leads to a negative entropy of mixing and to an increased unfavorable entropy contribution at higher temperature.
