9. 16. Therefore, in the reactions reported herein, H2 pressure is applied immediately upon addition of silica to prevent these occurences. If metathesis were allowed to continue on addition of solvent to an unsaturated polymer/catalyst mixture, metathetical molecular weight degeradation could occur.
