Qualitatively, this result should hold for other fcc (001) systems as well. Note, however, that assuming a typical value of 0.45 eV for the migration activation energy on fee (001) terraces and equal preexponential factors, this small energy difference leads already to an asymmetry of almost one order of magnitude in the horizontal and vertical mobility for temperatures as high as 300 K
