    • Results are drawn from a September 1996 survey of 26 out of 87 UK MEPs. Surveys were distributed to all UK MEPs and were returned by 29% of Labour MEPs (N=18), 28% of Conservative MEPs (N=5), 100% of Liberal Democrats (N=2), and 50% of Scottish Nationalists (N=1). The sample is also broadly representative of those elected in each election.
