6. In the current political climate OSHA is not contemplating the expansion of the general duty clause to specifically cover violence. It might be noted that some states are considering action or issued executive orders (e.g., Oregon, North Carolina, New Jersey) and that individual agencies within states may have useful strategies (although they are rarely reported in the literature). The fact remains, however, that there are few statewide laws covering all agencies and their employees.
