58. In spectroscopies in which the oscillators are in a diagonal state at some intermediate point in the experiment, the transfer of population into the state of interest must be included. Since the third-order experiment involves only coherences, this effect will show up as coherence transfer [cf. G. A. Voth and R. Hochstrasser, J. Phys. Chem. 100, 13034 (1996)]. However, in our case the displacement of the oscillators from equilibrium is small enough that coherence transfer should have no noticeable effect on the dephasing rate.
