    • In [2], the phrase "decoherence process" was used for the decay of the off-diagonal elements of the reduced density matrix. Here we use "decoherence" in a wider sense, describing any loss of quantum coherence (change from a quantum pure state to a statistical mixture of state). With this definition, decoherence concerns both diagonal and off-diagonal elements.
