1. Analogues of the pheromones of three insect species in which a Z-alkene has been replaced by a 1,2-disubstituted cyclopropene block the effect of the pheromone on insect behaviour at the same dose as that at which the pheromone is active (Al Dulayymi, J.R.; Baird, M.S.; Nyman , S.; Port, G.J. 2. The stcreochemistry of the alkenes in, eg., the chloride precursor of (6), was established by analysis of the coupling constants in 600 MHz proton n.m.r. spectra; thanks are due to the EPSRC service in Edinburgh for obtaining these spectra.
