The conversion and enantiomeric excess were determined on a Varian-CX-3400 GC equipped with a chiral column OV 1701 20heptakis(2,6-di-O-methyl-3-O-pentyl)-β-cyclodextrin. The absolute configuration was assigned by comparison with authentic samples of the esters of the (R)- and (S)-phenylpropionic acids.
