There had been several publications reporting the occurrence of primary pleural and peritoneal tumors in asbestos workers, but there are no references to them in this paper.

9. Grieve IMD (1927): "Asbestosis." MD thesis, University of Edinburgh. This was based on 15 consecutive cases of asbestos workers examined in a Leeds general practice and found to be diseased, together with the observations made at postmortem examination. It was by no means a screening of the asbestos workers registered with the practice.
