This study examines subglottic stenosis in 43 patients with Wegener's granulomatosis and reports on the clinical features, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease manifestation. Results support the use of an intratracheal dilation-injection technique to treat Wegener's-related subglottic stenosis.

16. Stegeman CA, Cohen Tervaert JW, DeJong PE, Kallenberg CGM: Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (co-trimoxazole) for the prevention of relapses of Wegener's granulomatosis. N Engl J Med 1996, 335:16-20. Eighty-one patients with Wegener's granulomatosis in remission were randomly assigned to receive either trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole or placebo. Fewer relapses were observed in the trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole group, although with stratification only upper airway and nasal relapses were statistically significant. No differences were observed in the frequency of renal, pulmonary, or nervous system relapses between the groups.
