Effect on lipoprotein profile of replacing butter with margarine in a low fat diet: Randomised crossover study with hyperlipidaemic subjects
-
Chisholm A, Mann J, Sutherland W, Duncan A, Skeaff M, Frampton C: Effect on lipoprotein profile of replacing butter with margarine in a low fat diet: randomised crossover study with hyperlipidaemic subjects. Br Med J 1996, 312:931-934. Even in the context of a diet very low in total fat, saturated fatty acids appear to have an appreciable effect on total and LDL-cholesterol. Modest amounts of trans-fatty acids in margarine do not appear to influence lipoprotein levels.
