Detection of pseudocapsule of renal cell carcinoma with MR imaging and CT
-
Yamashita Y, Honda S, Nishiharu T, Urata J, Takahashi M: Detection of • pseudocapsule of renal cell carcinoma with MR imaging and CT. AJR Am J Roentgenol 1996, 166:1151-1155. A pseudocapsule surrounding a renal cell carcinoma is a pathologic feature seen frequently in the early stages of the disease and might be an indication that simple enucleation or partial nephrectomy is indicated. T2-weighted MRI is the most sensitive technique for showing this pseudocapsule.

AJR Am J Roentgenol 1996, 166:835-843. Interesting study in 15 hypertensive patients with renal artery stenoses with sequential gadolinium-enhanced MRI after captopril administration. The results show that this functional test can demonstrate captopril-induced changes of tubular and excretory phases on the side of renal artery stenoses in some of the patients with confirmed disease.

Differentiation of delayed kidney graft function with gadolinium-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and Doppler ultrasound
-
Preidler KW, Szolar D, Schreyer H, Ebner F, Kern R, Holzer H, Horina • JH: Differentiation of delayed kidney graft function with gadolinium-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and Doppler ultrasound. Invest Radiol 1996, 31:364-371. Doppler sonography and MRI were compared in the differential diagnosis of ATN from transplant rejection in 24 patients with delayed kidney function after renal transplantation. The results suggest that MRI seems to be a sensitive, non-invasive diagnostic tool to differentiate ATN from transplant rejection in the critical early postoperative period.
