    • The high-field regime is labeled piezoelectric and not FE because it is possible that noncentrosymmetric systems exhibiting piezoelectricity may not be FE. This question might be resolved by low-temperature measurements in an electric field of the crystal structure or polarization. Although data relating to the latter are in the literature, further experiments are needed to firmly establish the existence of a high-field FE state in STO [see J. Hemberger, P. Lunkenheimer, R. Viana, R. Böhmer, A. Loidl, Phys. Rev. B 52, 13159 (1995)].
