Metastatic tumours to the conjunctiva: Report of 10 cases
-
Kiratli H, Shields CL, Shields JA, DePotter P. Metastatic tumours to the conjunctiva: Report of 10 cases. Br J Ophthalmol 1996; 80:5-8. Metastatic tumors of the conjunctiva appear at an advanced stage of the systemic disease when there are other organ or ocular metastases. The presence of a conjunctival mass in a patient with prior systemic neoplasm needs to be considered as the possibility of a conjunctival metastasis, and evaluation should be pursued.

A review of 45 cases of intraepithelial neoplasia of the conjunctiva. There were more recurrent lesions classified as dysplasia than as actinic keratosis. The degree of the atypia was not correlated with recurrence in both groups. Most intraepithelial neoplasias of the conjunctiva can be readily diagnosed by the opthalmic pathologists.

Differential diagnosis and prognosis of 112 excised epibulbar epithelial tumors

Seitz B, Fishcher M, Holbach LM, Naumann GO. Differential diagnosis and prognosis of 112 excised epibulbar epithelial tumors. Klin Monatsbl Augen 1995; 204:264-265. The differential diagnosis of conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia is mentioned. The authors suggest complete removal of the lesion without involvement of the surgical margin as the most important factor in prevention of the recurrence.
