Chlamydia trachomatis genital infections: United States, 1995
-
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Chlamydia trachomatis genital infections: United States, 1995. MMWR Morb Mortal Wkly Rep 1997, 46:193-198. Included in this brief update of the epidemiology, screening, and partner treatment issues for C. trachomatis is an expansion of the authors' prior recommendations to screen adolescent girls and women under 20 years to under 30 years of age. Use of DAA tests on urine may expand screening, and single-dose azythromycin (1 g) provides effective treatment.

Genital chlamydia infections in sexually active female adolescents: Do we really need to screen everyone?
-
Mousure DJ, Berman S, Fine D, Delisle S, Cates W, Boring JR: Genital chlamydia infections in sexually active female adolescents: do we really need to screen everyone? J Adolesc Med 1997, 20:6-13. This study evaluates the individuals' risk behaviors and likelihood of chlamydia infection in 15-to 19-year-olds. No single risk factor or pattern could identify more than 42% of the patients with C. trachomatis; therefore, universal screening was still recommended.
