    • Three sources of TCII can be used for the standard curve: purified TCII from human plasma, recombinant human TCII (rhTCII), or TCII in normal human serum. The concentration of the apo-TCII in serum is determined as described in the first part of this chapter and represents approximately 90% of total TCII in serum. Whereas purified human TCII and rTCII in solution have a tendency to aggregate because of their hydrophobicity, TCII in serum remains monomeric and stable and is preferable for generating the standard curve.
