This is the best book chapter available on skin and mind interactions in childhood. It includes numerous case examples and an explanation of how to use the PSC.
2. Koblenzer CS: Psychocutaneous disease. Orlando & Grune and Stratton; 1987. This landmark textbook describing the associations between skin and mind has an analytical orientation.

This study emphasizes differences as well as similarities between trichotillomania and classic OCD. Trichotillomania shares a number of features with impulsive disorders.

7. Streichenwein SM, Thornby JI: A long-term, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of the efficacy of fluoxetine for trichotillomania. Am J Psychiatry 1995, 152:1192-1196. Fluoxetine was no more beneficial in treating trichotillomania than was the control in this placebo-controlled trial. This study is in contrast to the generally held view of the efficacy of the selective serotonin reuptake inhbitor agents in trichotillomania.
