A long-term, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of the efficacy of fluoxetine for trichotillomania
-
Streichenwein SM, Thornby JI: A long-term, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of the efficacy of fluoxetine for trichotillomania. Am J Psychiatry 1995, 152:1192-1196. Fluoxetine was no more beneficial in treating trichotillomania than was the control in this placebo-controlled trial. This study is in contrast to the generally held view of the efficacy of the selective serotonin reuptake inhbitor agents in trichotillomania.
