note
-
No detailed search for the lowest energy geometry of protonated Gly-Gly-Gly was performed: the internal energy distribution of the precursor ion was evaluated by using the vibrational frequencies of a single local minimum obtained from semiempirical calculations. The average internal energy obtained with these frequencies is 7.2 kcal/mol. This is close to what one would have estimated based on the average internal energies obtained for protonated glycine, 1.7 kcal/mol, and glycylglycine, 4.4 kcal/ mol.
