A total of about 24000 organometallic compounds has been registered by the Chemical Abstract Service up to now. The Journal of Organometallic Chemistry was chartered in 1963 and, in the meantime, has seen 500 volumes with a total of 20000 papers on 194000 journal pages! Two more key journals, the Journal of Molecular Catalysis (1975) and Organometallics (1982), broadly cover catalytic applications of organometallic compounds. Early monographs and reviews have recognized this inter-dependence.
