This tilt might be caused by a very modest intermolecular contact of a methylene carbon atom with the nitrosyl nitrogen: (C(31)⋯N(5) = 3.50 Å, H(31A)⋯N(5) = 2.62 Å). If the Fe-N(5) vector is constrained to be normal to the heme plane, the C(31)⋯N(S) distance would be 3.37 Å and the H(31A)⋯N(5) would be 2.50 Å.
