The state of the marine environment
-
The land-based pollution takes less charge for the marine pollution according to the UNEP report
-
The land-based pollution takes less charge for the marine pollution according to the UNEP report, "The State of the Marine Environment", (UNEP Regional Seas Reports and Studies No. 115, 1990). This report estimates that 44 per cent of marine pollution is due to run-off and land- based discharge, 33 per cent to pollution through the atmosphere, 12 per cent to maritime transportation, 10 per cent to dumping and I per cent to offshore production.
