Selective endoscopic retrograde cholangiography and preoperative bile duct stone removal in patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A prospective study
-
Santucci L, Natalini G, Sarpi L, Fiorucci S, Solinas A, Morelli A: Selective endoscopic retrograde cholangiography and preoperative bile duct stone removal in patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a prospective study. Am J Gastoenterology 1996, 91:1326-1330. Elevated liver enzymes alkaline phosphatase >300 IU/L and alanine transferase (>40 IU/L) and CBD dilatation (>8mm) by ultrasound predicted a 95% probability of CBD stones. This is the highest predictive value reported. Most other series are closer to 60%.
