EBCT was performed in 73 pairs of age-matched asymptomatic hypertensive or nonintensive men. The duration of hypertension was a predictor of the presence and extent of coronary calcium.

Am J Epidemiol 1996, 144:943-953. A review of risk factors that are correlated with the presence of coronary artery calcification. However, these accounted for only 40% of the viability in quantity of coronary artery calcifications.

Circulation 1996, 93:1951-1953. In 1173 asymptomatic patients, EBCT was predictive of cardiovascular disease events. Various coronary artery calcification score thresholds yielded sensititivies of 89% to 50% and specificities of 77% to 95%.
