The volume of the reaction mixture greatly affects the yields of the reactions. In fact, high headspace negatively affect the reaction, owing to the partition of olefin and dichloroester between liquid and vapour phase; the best yields are obtained on working with Schlenk capacity little higher than the reaction volume. In this condition the amount of solvent can be drastically reduced.
