14. The value of the gold resonance was measured taking the uranium resonance as a reference. This is because of the higher accuracy inherent to the literature data of uranium. The literature value for the gold resonance is 4.908 ± 0.012 eV.
15. We found that the shape of the fitting function is not crucial, a Lorentzian fit giving quantitatively similar results for the peak position and width.
