    • The Palestinian refugees in Lebanon were expelled or left their homes in northern Palestine during the 1948-49 Arab-Israeli war and have been denied the right to return. The number of Palestinians in Lebanon is subject to dispute. The current UNRWA figure of 346,000 registered refugees is contested by figures such as 189,000 proposed by a leading Lebanese newspaper, Al-Safir.
