    • Inscuteable, a neural precursor gene of Drosophila, encodes a candidate for a cytoskeleton adaptor protein
    • of outstanding interest. This paper reports the cloning of inscuteable (as well as the RNA and protein expression patterns) and the mutant phenotype in the embryo and adult. Inscuteable protein is localized to the apical cortex of determinating and mature neuroblasts, and is required for normal CNS development. More recent work has shown that Inscuteable is required for spindle orientation and Prospero/Numb localization in neuroblasts (R Kraut, W Chia, YN Jan, J Knobilich, personal communication).
