30. Similar analysis of the transition state leading to 7 is less clear. A 2,1-insertion from intermediate 6 appears strained, but possible. Nevertheless, the presence or absence of 7-membered rings would not change our conclusions regarding the regioselectivity of the initial insertion reaction.
31. Consiglio has also observed highly regioselective copolymerizations of α olefins in the presence of the 1,3-bis(diethylphosphino)propane and has attributed the high regioselectivity to the more highly electron-donating dialkylphosphine ligands.
