Activation of dual T cell signaling pathways by the chemokine RANTES

of outstanding interest. An extremely interesting report detailing the ability of RANTES to directly activate T lymphocytes. Demonstrates the existence of a dual signalling pathway for RANTES, with chemotactic effects controlled by a pathway sensitive to pertussis toxin (likely to involve GTP-binding proteins) whereas activation-related events are sensitive to inhibitors of protein tyrosine kinase.
