    • At finite Prandtl number, the oscillatory instability first generates a traveling wave which bifurcates to a standing wave as the Rayleigh number is increased. The traveling wave stability range in R shrinks when P decreases to zero. Direct simulations of the P = 0-equations display a standing wave (see Ref. [5]).
