    • 7 × 7 = - 1.2 eV. For the Na-and K-induced (3×1) structures, we find ΔΦ = - 1.0 and - 1.4 eV, respectively (Ref. [12]). Upon completion of the first layer, ΔΠ = -2.5, -2.4 and -2.9 eV for Ba, Na and K, respectively. Considering the fact that the workfunction is very sensitive to the absolute coverage at low coverage, it is indeed very likely that the absolute coverages of the Ba-, Na-and K-induced (3 × 1) reconstructions are very close, i.e. ∼ 1/3 ML.
