    • We observed that when a platinum plate having a much bigger surface tension than mercury (namely 3747 mN/m or, the (100) face at 20 °C) is placed parallel to the bottom of the reaction vessel in a zeolite synthesis solution using a support, zeolite films are deposited on both sides of the plate, and the film formed on the reverse side of the plate is spontaneously detached when the thickness or the weight increases.

    • We also observed that, with the zeolite films obtained on a platinum and Teflon plate, the crystals on the side touching the platinum are more densely packed than those on the side contacting with the Teflon, but not as densely packed as those on the corresponding side of the film formed on a mercury surface and that they never form a flat sintered-like united plane as that obtained on mercury.
