    • The local moments obtained for the ideal Co bilayer on Cu(111) are larger than those calculated by Victora and Falicov [18], although the magnetic trends are the same. Apart from the different parameters of both calculations, we scale the Co hoppings to the interatomic distance of the Cu substrate where Co is grown. Since the lattice parameter of Cu (6.83 au) is larger than that of Co (6.54 au), a narrowing of the bandwidth of the Co DOS is obtained together with an increase of the DOS at the Fermi energy, which gives rise to an increase in the spin polarization.
