    • Reaction of 1-Li with 0.5 equiv of dimethyldichlorosilane gives the dimethylsilyl-bridged analogue of 2. The crystalline product consists exclusively of the racemic diastereomer in 45% yield. Reliable identification of the different isomers of 2 by NMR spectroscopy is more difficult because of the highly symmetric structure of both diastereomers.
