30. 3 spectrum of m/z 89 (Figure 3b) has shown that it fragments exclusively to m/z 45. Thus, the major m/z 87 ion is best rationalized as being originated by hydride transfer. Charge-exchange followed by rapid hydrogen atom loss of the ionized dioxolane is also an alternative, although charge-exchange is somewhat unusual for closed-shell cations.
