36. In the MRD-SDCI approach the important configurations from the usual SDCI expansion are taken as references and then SDCI is performed based on these. It contains important triple and quadruple configurations. Thus, to a large extent, it overcomes the disadvantage of size inconsistency in SDCI, which gives wrong relative positions of the excited states for longer polyene chains. (1978).
