Silicon was observed by standard INEPT (Insensitive Nuclei Enhanced by Polarization Transfer) experiments, with polarization transfer from the protons of the methyl groups of the dimethyl silyl unit to the silicon, which gave enhanced sensitivity and resulted in excellent NMR spectra using small amounts of sample and few scans.
