16. We discuss other conceivable origins of the observed diffraction pattern. For example, one could think of a K wedge that builds up perpendicular to the average step direction. However, much more than a coverage of 0.2 monolayer is needed to build up a compact wedge structure. Also, one could assume a K layer that is incommensurate with the underlying substrate. This will lead necessarily to very small K domains (in fact, their extension would be only one (114) unit cell) separated by domain boundaries. These are not observed.
