    • In the isomeric state model of a polymer a bond is considered semiflexible if rotation about the bond results in a different shape of the molecule and if the well depths are different by an amount Δε. These bonds can be in the side group as well as the backbone. Even though these bonds have different energies one can use an average bond energy, provided the energies lie in the straight line portion of the function for f given by eq. (6).
