13. The % ee of the key intermediates (3) and (6) have been determined by HPLC analysis on chiral columns (Chiralcel OJ). Enantiomer of (3) was synthesized using allylborane derived from (-)-methoxydiisopinocampheylborane and the enantiomer of epoxide (6) was synthesized using L-diisopropyl tartarate in Sharpless epoxidation reaction. Synthesis of enantiomers of (3) and (6) was necessary for unambiguous determination of % enantiomeric purities.
